The students continue on their journey to musical competence. We finish up the Volume II of Music Makers: At The Keyboard and move on to Volume III strenthening the aural and movement foundation already in progress. Of course the curriculum is always supplmented with additional Dalcroze activities, music theory, drumming and lots of dancing.  The Basic Guitar Skills will continue to be offered during the class (see 1st year keyboard)  in fact we will add more advanced materials such as the Suzuki Guitar School.

Remember that this is a "once in a lifetime" opportunity to have the fun and excitement of the group learning experience. Private lessons are available the rest of a child's life, but in this developmental time of 7-10 years, the heart and soul of a child can be captured by nurturing the deep, deep love of music and music making so that it can continue for a lifetime.

"Time spent nurturing the musician inside each child is time well spent.  Instrumental skills will take a child only so far, but it is the music inside each child that will serve him throughout his life.  Music Makers:  At The Keyboard is an alternative to starting piano lessons prematurely.  We have from age 9 until 99 to teach instrumental skills.  What's the rush?"

                            Jill Hannagan (MMK author)

The goal of the curriculum is to lead children to true music literacy: i.e. he/she can give meaning, phrases and styles to the notes on the page and not only just read them, but also improvise and compose with them. Music literacy is seeing what you hear and hearing what you see. The class environment follows the progression of body to mind and ear to eye pathway in learning to play the keyboard.
